
THE FIRST AMERICANS!

Come visit Discovery Land, the museum's hands-on learning center and experience life among the Plains Indian tribes in this region. Children ages 5-12 can learn abuot what it was like to grow up in a village on the prarie by exploring the museum's galleries and photos, through crafts, videos and other interactive activities. Scavenger hunts exploring art and exhibits of the museum galleries are available for all ages.
Every child who visits Discovery Land also receives a free Fun Booklet of puzzles, coloring and other activities.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited
Children ages 3-5 can meet traditional Lakota dancer Michael Ziegler for the latest Discovery Land class of The First Americans series. Children will participate in dances, hear tales of Lakota culture and experience hands-on the tools Native Americans used to survived on the Great Plains. Pre-registration is required and the class is limited to 25 participants.

Participants in these classes will experience what it was like being a kid on the windswept prairies. We'll learn about the buffalo, culture and traditions of the Plains Indian tribes and participants will have a chance to create their own traditional designs.
