Dimock Depot

LISTEN...CAN YOU HEAR THE TRAIN WHISTLE?
A Milwaukee Road junction line cut its way through the Dakota Territory prairie in 1886 with the small town of Dimock along the way. This depot building was built in 1914 to replace a much smaller one outgrown by passenger and freight traffic.
While the prairie schooner earlier brought settlers to parts of the growing nation, the people flocking to the new lands of Dakota Territory during the Dakota Boom of the 1880s arrived here by train. The rail lines were the lifeblood of the Dakota country.
