EARLY CHURCH ON THE PRAIRIE

The Farwell Methodist congregation was first organized about 1880 and met in sod houses, a granary, and the school. During the early years the congregation was served by hardy souls called circuit riders, ministers who traveled horseback or by buggy to communities on the prairies. Built in 1908, the church served its congregation for over 75 years.

The Farwell Church has been restored to its 1908 appearance using historic photos to replicate the original structure as closely as possible. The building is available for use for special occasions, including weddings and Sunday services.
