GREAT NEW EXHIBITS!

SustenanceSept 4 - Oct 23, 2010
Sustenance

The Dakota Discovery Museum is pleased to announce it is hosting the exhibit Sustenance in the Gates Changing Gallery. The exhibit opens September 4th and will run through October 23rd at the Dakota Discovery Museum.

Sustenance features a collection of work by Hilda Esperanza Langle inspired by the ages-old process of weaving among the native mountain people of Nobsa, Colombia.

"My creative process is an illustration of the natural world and depicts a way of life in danger of extinction. These drawings are a mere continuation of a Lexicographic record of the weaving process, from the shearing of the sheep to the making of the wool," states Ms. Langle.

A native of Colombia, Ms. Langle is a 2003 Fine Arts graduate of Dakota Wesleyan University and holds a 2009 M.A. in Spanish Linguistics with the Instituto Caro y Cuervo of Bogota, Colombia and Visual Arts Studies through the International Baccalaureate Organization: Latin America.

Sustenance will be on exhibit in the Gates Changing Gallery at the Dakota Discovery Museum on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University, 1300 McGovern Ave. A free public exhibit reception will be held on October 1.

Current museum hours are 9 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday and 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday. Admission is charged. For more information call (605)996-2122 or email info@dakotadiscovery.com.
